Team Canada won the NFL Global Junior Championship final 38-35 against the United States at the Bolles School Skinner-Barco Stadium. It’s Canada’s second victory in 6 participations at this tournament. Team Canada won the gold medal in Atlanta in 2000. Canada finally put an end to their 4-game losing streak against the United States in NFL GJC finals.
Team Canada ends the tournament with 5 victories and no lost. At the end of the final, running back #35 Jerome Messam was named Team Canada’s MVP. He finished the contest with 38 rushes for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Running back #28 Samuel Fournier also played a great game with two touchdowns and the defensive lineman #90 Maxime Tardif was a force on defense and finished the game with one QB sack.
This is an experience we will treasure for the rest of our days, said head coach Danny Maciocia, who returns north of the border to resume his role as head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos. Canada has waited a long time to beat The USA and at last our time has come.
